What is the DSU 7 Suction Pump?

The DSU7 is a compact suction machine intended as respiratory therapy and wound management at home, in healthcare facilities or nursing homes. It is designed for nasal, oral and bronchial aspiration and provides powerful, hygienic and effective airway clearance on demand.

The suction pump is an AC operated suction unit. The high suction performance of 30L per min and maximum pressure of -85kPa, ensures the patient is treated effectively. The variable vacuum regulator lets you adjust the vacuum levels - depending on the required pressure - for each procedure. 

How does the Suction Unit work?

The Clinical Suction Machine DS7 creates a negative pressure – known as a vacuum - that draws secretions and fluids through a tube connected to a collection cannister.

These fluids are ‘trapped’ in the disposable collection bottle for disposal.

• Drainage of secretion following laryngectomy, tracheotomy, in case of illnesses involving increased saliva production, bronchial damage following tumour irradiation, difficulties in swallowing following a stroke, coma patients, cystic fibrosis.

For your information, higher vacuum levels are generally used for oropharyngeal suctioning, while the lower vacuum levels are usually selected for tracheal suctioning and for suctioning procedures involving infants and children.

Cleaning and Hygienic Information

Our Suction Machine features a canister system that minimises the risks of contamination. The disposable canisters and filters ensure the device remains sanitary, reducing the risk of infection and cross-contamination between uses.

Before cleaning, ensure your device is turned off. In the event of an infection risk, please wear protective gloves and garments during the cleaning process.

To clean your DSU7 Suction Machine, please follow the instructions below:

1. Separate all individual parts of your machine before disinfecting
2. Soak individual components in hot water (60°C - 70°C) containing a detergent with a pH range between 6.0 and 8.0
3. If you use the reusable canister, soak the canister and lid thoroughly in detergent for up to 5 minutes
4. Remove any visible dirt gently with a general purpose cleaning tool
5. Allow all component parts to dry naturally
6. Wipe all other component parts like pump housing, mains cable and plastic accessories with a detergent recommended by your healthcare provider.
