What is the Pro TENS Unit?

The Pro TENS Unit by Metron is a tens machine that offers pain relief through electrotherapy or TENS therapy. This popular tens unit is ideal for a straightforward yet effective approach to pain relief.

What is a Tens machine?

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. A tens unit uses low-voltage electrical current, which sends a signal to the nerves under the skin through electrodes. This provides effective pain relief. This form of non-invasive therapy provides relief from pain caused by a wide range of conditions, from muscle strains or injuries, to ongoing long-lasting problems such as leg, hip, back and neck pain.

This unit features an integral timer and dials to provide instant and hassle-free treatments.

Why should you use the Pro Tens Unit?

Supplied with wire leads and self-adhesive electrodes, the analogue Pro TENS Unit is an effective device to alleviate neuropathic pain - pain tresulting from nerve damage - or acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. It is very suited for cervical, lower back, lumbago, leg pain, sciatica, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, tennis elbow, pinched nerves, and muscle and joint pain and strain. It is also considered to improve the muscles' flexibility and activate blood flow. This tens machine is also useful for period pain or labour pain.

The control dials will adjust the pulse width, pulse rate, intensity and mode so you can customise your massage experience.

The Pro TENS Unit is a Compact Design

The Pro Tens Unit is compact in size to ensure it can be carried around between locations as required. It also includes a hard carry case, making it both easier to transport and protect when in transit.

Dual-channel TENS Machine for Effective Treatment

One of the advantages of this unit is the dual-channel output. It allows for the placement of 2 x 2 electrodes over the painful area. This means you can use 2 pads per channel or 4 pads for two channels.

Always use the pads in pairs. The channels are isolated, meaning that you can treat two separate muscle groups at the same time.

The inbuilt timer with a 15, 30 and 60 minutes duration, will stop the treatment at these preset times.

The portable Pro Tens Unit incorporates a variety of parameters to ensure an effective treatment: mode control, pulse rate control, pulse width control, pulse intensity control and timer control.

When should you NOT use the Pro TENS Unit?

Although Tens is safe for most people, you should not use the Pro Tens Unit in a number of situations. If you are unsure of whether you should use a TENS machine, please consult your GP or your healthcare professional. Bettercaremarket would recommend not using the Pro tens Unit in the following situations:

  • During pregnancy (unless medically advised or in labour)
  • If you suffer from epilepsy or heart problem
  • If you have a pacemaker
